MIS Retractor

Comis Orthopaedics - MIS Retractor

Key Features:

  • Protrudes only 25mm above the skin level during surgery.
  • Provides full circumferential view of the acetabulum.
  • Soft-tissue friendly curved blades.
  • Large blade sizes facilitate its application to both MIS and open surgery.
  • Controllable forces imparted on soft tissue during retraction.

Conventional MIS retractors have been created with extra long handles to keep the assistants' hands out of the surgeon's way, and out of the field of exposure. However, these long handles impart greater forces on the soft tissues and cause more soft tissue damage.

The innovative low-profile design of the Comis MIS retractor protrudes only 25mm above the skin level during surgery, and provides vital circumferential exposure of the acetabulum during surgery. This has particular relevance with MoM 'Big Femoral Head' articulation and uncemented acetabular components.

Specially designed curved blades minimize soft-tissue damage and allow the anatomy to be fully exposed thus preventing compromised fixation of the acetabular component.

The Comis MIS retractor has also been applied successfully during open surgery using the large blade-size options.
