Comis Orthopaedics presented their newest solution to femoral neck targeting at the 2008 British Orthopaedic Association Annual Congress in Liverpool to a filled auditorium of surgeons, engineers and medical personnel...
The traditional method of preparing the femoral head requires a sleeve cutter, chamfer cutter and sleeve ring. The Comis CP cutter on the other hand performs both chamfer and peripheral cuts simultaneously.
After the Chana™ targeting device has placed a guide wire and stopper into the femoral head and proximal drilling has occurred, the Comis CP guide and cutter will then carry out the chamfer and peripheral cuts simultaneously. The proximal cuts are made in line with the true centre of the femoral neck as a result.
After the centering pin is placed in the femoral neck using the Chana® Targeting Device, proximal femoral cuts are made followed by chamfer and peripheral cuts using the Comis CP Cutter.
